This lettuce holds well in the summer heat and has a crisp, non-bitter, crunchy taste.
OH Buttercrunch or Bibb lettuces are a favourite of ours, so we decided to add a green variety to our collection. This heritage green buttercrunch is a delicious slow to bolt 15cm rosette, that holds well in the summer heat and has a crisp, non-bitter, crunchy taste. Can be sown year round for continuous supply.
Sow in early Spring, repeat monthly for continuous supply. Sow into trays, prick out at 4cm diagonal spacing when true leaves emerge. Transplant into fertile soil at 15cm diagonal spacing. As some seeds require heat to germinate, lettuces DO NOT germinate if soil temperature is too high. In summer we have found lettuces do not germinate in glasshouse conditions, instead we germinate them in our shadehouse.
