NZH A favourite multi-cut heirloom which traversed the world in the 1890’s with Italian immigrants. We love this variety because it is perfect for home gardeners who want a long season of broccoli from one planting. Main heads measure 10-18cm diameter with prolific side shoots. Variable maturity means the main heads are also staggered so you don’t get a glut of broccoli followed by none. Ideal for spring and autumn sowings. Leaves and stems are also very tasty when picking the side shoots. Best to pick often to insure the plants keep producing.
Sow into trays in early August-September, or for a winter crop late January-March. Prick out to 4cm diagonal spacing when true leaves appear. Transplant into fertile soil at 40cm diagonal spacing.
