OH Wanting to add a “Lebanese” type cucumber to our range, we discovered most are hybridized and do not fit in with our philosophy. We were delighted to discover this open pollinated variety claimed to be over 80 years old. The history of this variety is not documented well, but it is an older open pollinated variety with great flavour and disease resistance to powdery and downy mildew as well as cucumber mosaic virus. A prolific producer of 17-22cm thin green skinned fruit with few seeds. Also known as a “burbless” cucumber as it is easier to digest then some other varieties. Great for fresh eating, can also be pickled.
Sow in trays in September prick out to 4cm spacing when true leaves appear. Transplant at 50cm diagonal spacing into fertile garden in direct sun.
