Chamomile - German

OP This is the most potent and productive medicinal variety. It is an herbaceous annual bush growing to 90cm, native to southern and western Europe as well as northern and western Asia. The beautiful and fragrant flowers are composed of yellow seed centers and delicate white petals.  An excellent companion plant, but traditionally it is used medicinally for its anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-allergenic and sedative properties.  Most commonly known for its soothing effect pre-bedtime when drank as a tea, other medicinal purposes include, calm for restless children, and to ease colic and teething pain in babies, relieves indigestion and abdominal pain, can ease symptoms of colds and flu such as headache or fever. It can also be helpful to treat toothache, arthritis, gout, and premenstrual tension. As well as, prepared as an external wash in strong infusion, or as part of a hot compress, the herb can soothe burns and scalds, skin rashes, and sores.  Furthermore, it can be used as a soothing eye wash for conjunctivitis, or lastly, use as a hair rinse to brighten hair. The possibilities are almost endless!

Scatter sow seed in a tray in Spring, DO NOT cover seed, it needs light to germinate. Prick out to 4cm diagonal spacing and transplant when a healthy root system has established to 30cm diagonal spacing.
