White Sage Smudge Stick - Mini

White sage is something I grew up with, used in ceremonies by indigenous peoples that I attended and at times of moving house or cleansing our spaces we lived in. White sage was to me, a plant that had the ability to cleanse energy. I still use it to this day as such. Traditionally, indigenous people in Southern California and northern Baja have tended wild white sage­ populations for thousands of generations. Known lovingly by some as “grandmother,” white sage gives much in return: medicine, food, and ceremony. Many native families ended up in California cities like Los Angeles through government work training programs (aka assimilation and relocation) in the 1950s. White sage, similar in many ways to sagebrush and other aromatic plants used in ceremonies of indigenous populations across the USA, was adopted by people relocated to the west. Its use then spread throughout Native America and attained a pan-Indian status. In the 1960s, the hippie movement adopted the use of white sage and this evolved into the New Age Movement using it in ceremony. Unfortunately, this desire to benefit from this deeply healing plant has led to metric tons of white sage being poached to supply an international demand. Often people have not care to understand the reciprocity of this healing plant and used it instead for their own financial gain, sadly killing off wild areas where this plant has grown for generations. In an effort to help in some way stop this from continuing, we have been growing white sage in our seed gardens for 8 years. We have been selling the seeds and now have decided to make available our own stage sticks. All sage used in our sage sticks is harvested from our own plants in a way that honours the plant and allows it to regrow. We hope you enjoy the benefits of this beautiful herb as much as we do.
